Hiking – The Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge is a short drive North on Route 52. Entrances to the refuge dot the highway along the way.

Biking – Anson County, where Wadesboro is located, boasts a number of marked bike routes that crisscross the county boundaries offering shorter or longer excursions.

Fishing – The nearby Pee Dee River offers seasonal angling along its banks or from the Duke Power spillway. Lakes and streams can be found as well within the Pee Dee wildlife refuge.

A longer drive North on Route 109 or Route 52 will take you to the Uwharrie National Forest which includes mountainous trails for hiking or biking, elegant streams for fishing and Baden Lake recreational area.
