completed in 1910 and built by U.B.
Blalock, a local businessman and
politician. The Victorian architecture
features bay rooms, vaulted ceilings, wrap-around porch, elegant stairway and

Originally called "Newtown", Wadesboro was renamed in 1783 to honor the service of Colonel Thomas Wade in the Revolutionary War. Wadesboro is the county seat for Anson. Scenes from Steven Speilberg's "The Color Purple" were filmed in and around the town. |
